Archaeological missions

archaeological missions banner Archaeological excavations and surveys in Italy and abroad.

The archaeological excavation plays a significant role in the education and training offered by the Department of Archeology to the students of the Faculties of Humanities and Conservation of the Cultural Heritage and of the School of Specialization in Archaeological Heritage of the University of Bologna. The on-field practical training is also related to other initiatives (programmed and emergency excavations) carried out by the Soprintendenze Archeologiche, other Universities, Museums and other research centers in Italy and abroad.
Italian students have also the opportunity to work within other European Universities, in the context of the Erasmus and Socrates training programs.
Funding is granted by the University of Bologna and integrated by the local authorities and institutions (Municipalities, Banks), and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the archaeological missions abroad.
